Administering the Sacrament
And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, this is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me. Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, this cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you. Luke 22:19-20.
To align my journey with this sacred ordinance, I like to partake of it on Sundays as part of my spiritual growth to remember Jesus' eternal sacrafice. I adapted the following sacramental prayers in accordance to what Jesus said when he initiate it. To be said with humility and reverence.
Bread
Heavenly Father, thank you for this bread, which is the body of thy son Jesus
Christ that was given for me that I may partake of it in remembrance of his
eternal sacrifice. Amen.
Wine
Heavenly Father, thank you for this wine, which is the blood of thy son Jesus
Christ that was shed for me that I may partake of it in remembrance of his
eternal sacrifice. Amen.
- Perform ordinance in a quiet place.
- Take bread, give thanks, break it, partake.
- Take wine (i.e. non-alcoholic) or grape juice, give thanks, pour it, partake.
- Take a moment to reflect on the eternal sacrifice of Jesus and what it means to you.
